The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.6 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.
Sacred Heart Council was founded in 1993 through the efforts of the men in the parish. It is named after Sacred Heart Parish, in Tonganoxie, Kansas. The Sacred Heart Council works closely with the Sacred Heart Parish in Tonganoxie, providing funds for various projects, members being active participants in their parish. etc.
The Knights are involved in many activities including, but not limited to:
~Fish Fry's every Friday during Lent
~Multiple fundraisers throughout the year to support Pro Life
~Tootsie Roll Drive to help people with intellectual disabilities
~Salvation Army bell ringing during the holidays
~Annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest
~Yearly scholarships for graduation seniors
~Manages the Prayer Garden including the prayer bricks.
Our council meetings are held the 2nd Sunday of each month 4th grade classroom of the parish center at 7:00 p.m.
4th Degree meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at St. John's Catholic Church in Lawrence, KS at 7:30 p.m.
